KEY NOTE SPEECH: “A WORKING MODEL FOR COLLABORATIVE PARTNERING”
Sue Dyer, MBA, MPF, MDR IPI, CEO Orgmetrics, President
At the 2009 IPI Forum, we had many requests to know “how” to implement partnering so that you get the kind of results that were shared. IPI has developed a “working model” for a comprehensive, integrated partnering program that results in a highly collaborative project environment. Sue Dyer walked the audience through an overview of the IPI Collaborative Partnership "Working Model" that facility owners can follow to setup and implement a proven partnering process for their design and construction program. IPI PARTNERING AWARDS CEREMONY
Just as there is the Malcolm Baldridge National Quality Award, an annual award that recognizes U.S. organizations in the business, health care, education, and nonprofit sectors for performance excellence, and AGC's Marvin M. Black Excellence in Partnering Awards that recognize the successful partnerships and collaborations that work to improve AGC member's construction projects.
Now there is the International Partnering Institute's John L. Martin Partnered Project of the Year Awards, named after San Francisco International Airport's Director and IPI's first Chairman of the Board, to honor projects that best exemplify the principles of partnering and which promote IPI's mission - to make construction a culture of partnership.
The purpose of these awards is to celebrate success, share lessons learned and best practices, and to acknowledge the collaborative efforts of teams who achieve extraordinary results.

IPI operates as a THINK TANK doing qualitative research based on the collective wisdom of the industry. We use this wisdom to develop “best practices” for partnering. We broke into three distinct “think tanks” one for Owners, one for the Design phase and one for the Construction phase. In our “think tanks” this year we explored Models for Collaborative Partnerships.
